That’s a good idea , also found it very interesting there fuel consumption was better with it facing rearwards
Would be intriguing to see if a mushroom type inlet was fitted and of that made any difference
Also noticed they sprayed the air filter with oil, a while back read somewhere that it can sometimes mess up a Maf sensor , alas don’t know if that’s true or not

Agree, but this video relates to the reality of everyday driving and questions the way these things have been set up. I have to say I agree with him.D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)

they are a raised air intake, not a deep water air intake, otherwise in particular dusty environments the standard air intake would draw in a lot of grit, dust and dirt. By raising the point of entry you keep the air intake out of the majority of junk that gets sucked in.
They are not necessarily for going deep water wading, but obviously if all the systems are sealed up properly while still able to breath (diff breather pipes, air intake connections etc etc) then it can be done, however unadvisable it may be.
On the Freelander 2 the air intake is on the nearside wing under the mirror, and in the UK is very prone to sucking in water from kerbside puddles on the roads, although there are drain points to mitigate this to a certain degree.2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Many accessorise for pleasure, fun, fantasy etc. but most rarely get to be used for what they were accessorised for.D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)

I guess snorkel is just the term that has been adapted for them, as raised air intake is too many words for some of the ''one life live it'' bobtailed, lifted D2 enthusiasts 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

I heard some here installed off-road tyres, roof racks, extra lights, tow hooks, etc.
I mean, if they were needed they would be fitted as standard
