Extended warranty recommendations. |

Ok, so D4 just turned 6 years old yesterday and on 108,000 miles so no Land Rover Extended Warranty options.
Anyone had experience of Warrantywise & Motoreasy?
Both around £850 per year with 100% payout (supposedly)
Warrantywise will do 3 years for £2500 which seems quite reasonable and they are fine with using Main Dealer for diagnosis and work with £5000 per claim.
Any comments welcome.

From personal experience some years ago, I would definitely steer clear of warranty wise.
To be worth anything at all, wear and tear must be included or it’s worthless, especially at that mileage. Joined the BMWX5 45e group

I know they were reasonable when I got quoted for them. A year down the road, they’d doubled and were on a par with the named LR one.
£3,600 seems ludicrously expensive. Don’t know why they just don’t quote if the intention to put people off.

Thanks for the wise words. 1st time in 25 years I have not had a car under a manufacturers warranty 17 of them in D3/D4, scary stuff on a D4.

Brother has warranty with warranty wise on his RRS had a problem with it going into limp mode, garage diagnose it sorry sir inlet manifold is cracked warranty wise sorry not covered D3 in Buckingham blue now SWMBO's Mine D4 commercial

I don't mean to be brutal but what do you expect for a car with over 100K miles in term of a warranty price?
If you love it and value it that much then £3600 is a steal if the engine goes for a vehicle with that mileage.
I did an 'old' warranty direct (that was then) principally because I wanted the peace of mind if the engine let go. I went for a £300 excess per claim but that was with the added 'wear and tear' which would likely be the engine if it went.
So far I've had the front suspension arms changed, the rear door actuator and the gear selection dial part changed. All in all I have saved about £900 so far but that isn't why I took the warranty out, it was for peace of mind on the engine.
Maybe that should be your question (maybe it is but you haven't said so?)..
What are you wanting from a warranty?
If it's cheaper parts and labour for everything then for the mileage you have you'll pay for that.
If it's peace of mind if the engine lets go then your quoted price (assuming you are sure it is covered?) is cheap.
Just my tuppence worth... always tricky stuff warranty costs but for me it is Warranty Direct every time and jic the engine goes as mine is a long termer.

The car had a brand new engine under warranty at around 50k so that’s not the main concern.
It’s more like having cover for the rest of the car to a good level and with a company that’s easy to deal with that will be ok using main dealers for the work.
I will look further into levels of cover today because obviously wear and tear on a high mileage car is going to be an issue.

I have a an ongoing 2 year WD policy, I submitted a claim for the steering shaft assembly replacement, after the work was done by an Indie.
I’m pleased to say that this has been quickly approved for payment with zero fuss.
It’s a shame the policy ends in July, I dread to think what the renewal will be.

I went with MotorEasy in the end that offered a very comprehensive package after haggling.
They offered me the ‘B’ policy as the car was only just over 100,000 miles.
Policy covers wear and tear, engine/crank etc and main dealer labour rates.
It’s a ongoing rolling warranty and can be transferred to a new owner if I sell it which should be a bonus as getting warranty at +100k is a nightmare.
£950 inc vat for the year which due to an offer on has been extended to 18 months.
With having the new engine 50k ago I’m quite happy with this deal.
I have the Betterment thing on the policy what ever that is but basically I get the full cost of parts covered.
Warranty Wise would only cover 50% parts cost due to mileage and seemed poor all round.
I also have AA breakdown cover with their repair cost cover policy for £500 per breakdown so all seems in hand.
Time will tell.
It’s worth talking to them and really pushing them for what you want, it took a bit of time dealing with three potential companies but worth the haggle.
I hope this helps people in the same situation with high mileage cars.

Crank failure not covered by LR!!! |

I have just been talking to Land Rover Extended Warranty to renew my cover for my 2016 D4 (59000 miles). We were casually discussing accessorising the car to find out what the warranty issues might be - (I didn't want to invalidate the warranty by fitting spot-lights or a tyre compressor for example) - and he said towing a caravan is an accessory!, and if I had a crank failure, they wouldn't cover this under warranty! - and it would have to be a Land Rover customer service issue - no guarrantee at all that they would cover such a repair!
For me, that was the whole purpose of having the LR warranty in the first place! Quite shocked!
Any thoughts before I write to LR for clarification?
Or would I be better going to an alternative cover provider?

the lottery of getting a new engine from lr should your crank snap or bearings spin MAY be helped if you have a track record of lr service..if you use an indie call the samaritons

Yes, full main dealer servicing at correct intervals would be a must to get assistance from JLR I think.
