On the subject of "side chicks" - I was once doing an inspection of some work being done to a house. Part of the work included a side extension. The lady of the house was showing me around and when it was time to look at the side extension, I said "Next, time to have a look at the new bit on the side".
She replied "Poor choice of words, I'm afraid."
"Sorry, why?"
"Oh, the reason we're selling up is because he chose the bit on the side over me".
