United Kingdom 2005 Discovery 3 4.4 V8 HSE Auto Bonatti GreyDiscovery 3
[For Sale] Discovery 3 HSE V8 -2005 - Bonatti Grey - 67,550mls

Discovery 3 HSE V8. 2005

2 Owners from New – current owner from 2017
Mileage: 67,550
Colour : Bonatti Grey
Interior: Beige Leather
Standard & unmodified example in fantastic condition.
7 Seater
MOT: 8th August 2022

It took me approximately 2 years to find this low mileage standard example. The 1st owner was a CEO of a large corporation and it was only used for high days and holidays when he was at home both in London & Scotland. It was originally on a private plate.
When I bought it from a dealer, it was agreed that a few items would get sorted by the dealer prior to collection including the tinted glass. When I went to collect it, only a few items had been done and I left it there to be completed. When it was still not done a week later, I complained to the owner, who arranged for it all to be completed. The employee who it later turned out was fired for his incompetence on his dealings with a lot their vehicles had legged it with a load of stuff including my cars service book. Hence there is no documentation of servicing from new. I did however write to the original owner and he managed to find some old Invoices for servicing, which he kindly sent to me, so I do have some paperwork, just no service book.

Car will come with the following:
• Two sets of mats – carpet & rubber winter mats
• Rear load space LR rubber mat
• Original Rear Lights
• Spare Wrangler tyre – perfect condition
• Spare front discs & pads (part used)

During my ownership it has had the following done:
• Throttle body clean
• Crankcase breather valve
• EBC Yellow stuff front brake pads
• Front & Rear discs
• AC Compressor (2018)
• AC Condensor (2018)
• 4 wheel refurb (Jan 2019)
• Bonnet struts genuine LR (Jul 21)
• Roof Drains (new RR drain elbows)
• 3 wire twist connection
• New battery June 21 ( 017TE Exide EA1000)
• ARB front bushes (Jul 2017)
• New wheel nuts (original swollen available)
• New Alternator (July 2019)
• New Plugs ( March 2017)
• New propshaft (May 2022)
• New NSF wheel bearing (May 2022)
• New OSF wheel bearing ( July 2019)

Service:
• March 2017 – Dakar Indy
• 2018 – Home oil change
• July 2019 - Orchard View Indy
• 2020 – SORN – no service
• Sept 2021 – RCV Indy

Tyres are Goodyear Wrangler - approx 6mm tread all round

Issues:
• SatNav – not working – 4x4 screen works fine
• Passenger seat – seat belt warning. Occasionally warning chimes despite no passenger (common fault)
• Handbrake – makes noise on applying.

Car is located just outside of Tonbridge Kent.

Price: I am fixing this at £13,500

Will be sad to see this go, but am going down to one car and one motorbike.

If I find something I have missed,I will update the thread

Can accommodate viewings most days, joy of being retired.

My god, That is rare as rocking horse poo. I thought mine was the lowest mileage at 77K

Some will argue the price but personally I think your bang on. I wouldn't sell mine for that money so best of luck with the sale of a truly rare and special vehicle.

Just to add if anyone is wavering because of fuel costs/running costs.

I get 22mpg on a run in mine
20mpg towing a 900kg trailer
19mpg towing an 1900 kg trailer

Compare that to "her indoors" old sport which ran about the same when towing but 29mpg on a run.
Essentially if you can afford to run a diesel d3/4 then you can afford to run a v8 petrol
Add to that its ULEZ compliant and probably cheaper tax, no cam belts and very few known weaknesses these really do make a ton of sense.
05 D3 V8 HSE, LR Passion tree bars, wildbear compressor guard, LRP switch panel, ARB rear locker + compressor, Trigger 6 shooter electrical system
12 RRS SDV6 HSE (Hers) - Gone and replaced with an I Pace - I can tell you now EV is not the future yet
Metalian Camper trailer

Echo that sentiment
Looks absolutely lovely. As the profile shows we have 3 no our Zambezi silver we use every single day, they are just lovely cars. Our 2005 SE LHD (middle) actually has 70,000 kms on the clock but ECU suggests 100,000 m Question

D3 2.7 Zermatt silver (not another one)
D3 4.4 V8 Zambezi silver
D3 4.4 V8 Adriatic Blue

Is the V8 a better option than the TDV6 in terms of reliability you think?

Oh yeah - no cam chain issues on the 4.4 v8 only really known weak spot is the thermostat and thermostat housing and the issues related to PCV causing rough running.

The only other issue is one that has aflicted every land rover since the td5 - that is that the temp guage doesn't tell you you've overheated until engine damage is already done but thats super easy to sort by running a scan guage or similar all the time that actually shows you the coolant temperature. The over heating is generally a symptom of the thermostat housing or some other coolant leak like rear heating etc.

New MOT just done - 8th August 2023. Very Happy

Handbrake Issue was the shoes, they have now been replaced.

Will leave this here for another week, then open it up to a wider market.
