United Kingdom 2007 Discovery 3 TDV6 GS Manual Stornoway GreyDiscovery 3
Trailer updates.

Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet, been lots going on! The trailer is well on it way now the outside is nearly finished, more photos to follow on instagram @Toy.Rover but as you can see I have colour matched my D3 with it. I just need to finish the inside over the next few weeks (under floor insulation and headboard) and it will be on the road! I am hoping to get up to Billing Off Road Show with it so feel free to come and have a close look.

Done finish and tested

All done, central locking works, air suspension works, brake drums work, windows work! Very happy with it! Has a bed, toilet, power inverter (for her hair straighteners Shocked ) and loads of storage inside! We are off to the Pyrenees on Monday 7th Aug so just need to pack it and go. Trailer weights 900kg so very happy with the weight. We have tested it in wales for a weekend took it to strata and it was perfect. With the truck total is 4 tons, so be interesting to find out mpg when we go. 1623 miles in 10days so we will see!! It has taken some time to do but I’m so happy I did it! Reason it took longer I had the dreaded crank issue with the disco! So had to do an engine swap, but that just pushed me on. Look out for me driving to Portsmouth on the Monday. Driving down in the day! Thanks for the support on here. Couldn’t have done it without you. Posts and story’s on @toy.rover thank you.

How did you get on with the trailer dude? I would love to do something like this too. Is there a build thread anywhere with how you made it and kept the various systems?

Thanks

Jamie

The trailer has gone very well. We used it in the Pyrenees and everything worked as it should. I’ve been to a few Overlanding shows with it and stayed in it with ease. Next trip I’m planning to get into the artic circle with it so I’m going to fit a FBH and that should be warm enough! Off roading with the length of the towbar is easy managed to do everything I needed too. Even Strata Florida!! Took a long time to build but very enjoyable. People did say about the weight but it’s just over 1 ton fully kitted out so perfect for towing. Mpg for the trip dropped from 26mpg to 23mpg with the trailer. If you have the time I would say build one! It’s great fun. The amount of Toyota drivers that said “that’s the best thing you can do with a Landrover!” Did get a bit old but never mind! Glad you like it. More photos on instagram @toy.rover
