Good looking 17 year old...

I'm parked up outside church today waiting to meet a friend and couldn't help but notice how handsome the D3 still is today, despite its age.

Such a masterpiece of design that not only has stood the test of time, but I believe is actually becoming better looking compared to the jelly-moulds being released now.

Boxy, practical and extremely comfy. (I just wish it was more efficient.)

I totally agree. The original D3 is a design classic and will I believe become collectable in the future.

I had that very conversation at a JLR main dealer on Thursday. An original spec silver D3, as used in the original advertising campaign, is tipped for collectibility and apparently already attracting interest.

Very nice. Thumbs Up

For me, the Disco 3 & 4 are classics in the making …. the less bling, the better.

yes, it will surely become a classic, but do you think that something as stupid will ever happen, IMHO, like what is happening with the old defender?? at least here you can see Defender from 2010 with high mileage for €50,000, and I don't quite understand despite how beautiful it is!!

I don’t think the D3s are rare enough, even the V8s, for them to become weird cult vehicles commanding insane premiums.. unfortunately.

Meanwhile a D3 in its natural habitat earning its keep. It’ll be 18 and allowed to buy alcohol next January Laughing

In the picture we’re playing with 5+ GHz point to multipoint links.

I agree

I've owned many Land Rovers
Defenders I was never happy with the look, always modding it to never be quite pleased, same with the d2's.

But the D3 needs nothing.
It's a perfect shape, looks good in any setting, it's quiet and warm - which pleases the wife.
Sometimes I look for toys for it, but it just doesn't need anything!

I agree totally and love my D3 to bits, even if I may have to sell it soon due to emigration Big Cry

Less than 20 years ago I owned a white 4 door Range Rover 3.5 EFi. I sold it as I transitioned to a long line of D1's, D2's and my current D3.

That Range Rover cost me £1500 and would now be worth a tidy sum now had I kept it. I wonder if good solid D3's will go the same way? Do I stick it in a shed for a decade and see what happens?!

I believe the D3/4 to be one of the best Land Rover's ever made and the last proper Land Rover before they went all Waitrose car park chic Laughing

If only the Camel Trophy had continued and done it with D3's...........

I thought that about my bog standard white RR Classic and sold it. Within a few years RRC's vanished from the road and prices skyrocketed. Doh!!!!!

I reckon there will be a tipping point where D3's stop being bought by the wider masses and get scrapped and numbers around will fall dramatically. Talking to a mechanic mate about 2ndhand prices, normal punters are put off by the costs of maintaining a D3 and the risk of the engine going bang at any moment. They have all the attributes of a proper classic IMHO.

If only we'd had the vision to keep all the cars we have owned. I've had and sold Ford Escort Mk2's Cortina's, Capri's, a Triumph GT6, and a 1979 Sahara Beige 2 door RR classic, of which turned out to be very valuable collectable cars! Big Cry
