What’s the button / lever on the gear shifter in disco 2010

Hi all

Have a disco 2010, what’s the little burton / lever on the auto gear shifter. Does this have to be pressed to move gears (IE Park - Drive) ?

If you mean the button to the front of the lever, then yes, press that to move the lever, whilst at the same time having the footbrake pedal depressed. I assume if you have a 2010 D4 that's what you do, or do you mean something else?

I'm curious how you're driving the vehicle if it is the button Pedros refers to and you aren't aware of it's function.

It's not the bit you push in to remove the gear knob is it?

I'll confess that I don't know of the knob removal button ... although I think someone ( DSL ? ) mentioned removal of the gear knob as an anti-theft strategy, but assumed he was being flippant.

Realise now that, although he does a fantastic job of hiding it, he does indeed have uber-techie as one of his superpowers.

( the others being traveling and eating, of course)

Moi, flippant? Shocked Shocked

No, I was being serious. Might just put off some piece of low life from stealing your car if he sees he can’t get it out of park. Just squeeze the trigger and pull upwards. And if anything breaks don’t blame me! Laughing

Tried that ... felt like I was lifting the gearbox so I gave up. Rolling with laughter
