Lower steering column woes

Hi all,

I spent the day replacing my lower steering column today. Finally got it in (what a job) but now, The steering is off by about ep degrees and this is throwing up all kinds of errors.

Is there a easy way to fix this or do I have to dismantle the whole column again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks all

Frank

Your steering angle sensor is upset, because the wheel is not straight, but the car drives straight, it upsets the whole thing!
It's important to lock the steering wheel in the right place before you start doing the lower column. It's also important not to spin the steering wheel while it's disconnected, or you'll screw up the clockspring (the device that connects all the steering wheel functions to the car through a rotating joint)
Yes, you will probably need to take it apart and do it again, hopefully you can find the original position for the wheel, and hope it's not one whole turn out!

Shouldn’t be a whole turn out but can’t understand the change.

Thanks Richard

Are you sure you ordered the correct one? If you have a LHD column, then this will throw it out.

Ahhhh that explains it! The thread was on the wrong side of the shaft. Can I not make that one work? It was such a pig of a job getting it in ☹️
