oil filler cap
I have noticed that there is smoke coming from around the oil filler cap on my D4 TDV6 3.0 l
Have changed the o ring and even put an extra one around the neck, but still smoke coming out.
I have not lifted the plastic topshield.
Could the smoke come from somewhere else?Discovery 4, MY2011, TDV6 Auto

Take the top sound proofing off and tell us! put the cap back on after removing the sound proofing. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Yes could be something else coming from the engine just escaping around the oil filler where the seal is.
Take the top cover off the engine - could be a number of thingsMust stop buying shiny toys....

Soundproofing gone!
Will take the top off.
Is it normal that smoke escapes the o ring?Discovery 4, MY2011, TDV6 Auto

Is this just when you initially take the cap off after after warming up? I had the same worries but from what I understand it is most likely water vapour from the hot engine - if it is anything else you would know with other issues!

when lifting the cap there is smoke More when warming up. The workshop says it is normal.
And as I wrote it is also smoke when the cap is on coming around it.
Defenitly not vapour.Discovery 4, MY2011, TDV6 Auto

When the cap is fitted and the engine is running nothing should come out from anywhere on the top of the engine. Take the cap off check it is a genuine cap, lift the engine sound cover off (the big black plastic cover on top of the engine) it just lifts off, put the cap back on and start the engine and look where it is coming from, there should be nothing escaping, if there is take a photo and post it on here
If you take the cap off while the engine is running you will have fumes coming out under pressure, this is normal. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
