Scraping/Grinding Noise Front drivers side |
|
Hi all, new here, but wanting some help
Disco 3, 2.7 TDV6 Auto
Nothing obvious is standing out, but at low speed turning right theres a nasty scraping/grinding noise from the front drivers side suspension/wheel which i can only describe like an undertray scrapimg...but isnt, i cant see anything obvious , wondering if anyome has any pointers, my next port of call isto checl around CV joints
Just to note this isnt something that built up, it was all of sudden started happening, doesnt happen at higher speeds, or turning left, or straight,

I suspect it is a warped heat shield on the front brake setup. Mind did so recently, nothing that a quick but of brute force to bend it away from the hub didn't sort
Oddly they seem to warp sometimes - maybe heat does it 2022 BMW i4 M50. Bought Oct 2022. 10,200 miles and counting...

Check tyre pressures
Press the DSC button on the center dash to make the orange light come on.
Then test drive. See if it has gone away.
If yes check the opposite corner (rear) for a hot wheel.
Hotter than the other rear wheel.
If yes suspect you need a new rear brake caliper
If no steering wheel sensor calibration required or tracking

Is the noise when steering is on full lock? Mine makes a noise on full lock sometimes, grease on the steering lock stops cures it. Steve

If it's not the lock stops as above, check there isn't a stone etc. stuck between the brake disc and the shield.

Anyone any ideas , is it driveshaft? Assume rolling or throttle on it would make the noise tho, weird how it doesnt do it rolling in the same direction

Did you try pressing the DSc button on the dash.
Don’t have to get your hands dirty for that

I get this too usually on a roundabout or a motorway junction when I’m going round to the right. I haven’t looked into it too much but I’m suspecting that it’s the body role control operating the ABS. I could be wrong.....
