Hi folks
Only me again so what a night mare finally got around to changing the epb shoes and boy what a crap job never again.
So on rebedding them which i done before just never replaced, hey took the first run of bedding in good on the second one the electo/whining noise and red light on dash.
So it was beyond me had to take to the garage I havent got a quote yet.
I was viewing a video and a guy went through the procedure to replace the module.
He disconbect all the cables in preparation - thing is when he got access to the module he tried just using the repair kit so left the module in place.
The replacement kit worked one of the cogs had broke and the circlip slipped off.
My question to you folks is have you tried it, and if he just repaired the module in situ would there be any need to disconnect the 3 EPB cables
I only ask as the replacement kit could be a doable diy job that i could do on ramps.
Anyway any help appreciated and thanks in advance

Does it just need the relatch procedure? Do you have an Iid or Autel as they do it.
You can replace the cogs in situ, it’s not easy but possible.

It's a diabolical EPB design, typical of land rover. The shoes have the readjusted correctly and frequently to prevent module failure. If you follow the correct procedure by Bodsy, you should be ok. A lot of garages do not know how to set up the brakes properly so cannot be relied on.
Relatch is a DIY job but it's not pleasant one. But if you are willing to remove the unit yourself, you'll be willing to relatch and if that's all the issue is, then you'll wish you had tried before removing.
There are relatch guides on here and a few vids on YouTube. The bit that isn't made clear in all the guides is just how much of a whack you need to give the brass component to get it unstuck. You need a cranked bar and a decent lump to hit it with. Once it's unstuck, it's about 30 mins of flicking with a driver and plenty of RSI. Or you can apply voltage to the motor. I assume it's a 12v motor but I've always used a full charched lithium cell at 4.2v just to be safe. It's a voltage sensitive motor so apply voltage for direction.

Hi I’m a little confused here what you have done as you seem to have tried to bed in the rear shoes Or have you done it more than once?
My understanding is the procedure should only be done once for new rear shoes, and if you try it multiple times then you can overheat the friction lining and cause it to brake down.
From memory you would replace and manually adjust the shoes and measure and set the rotation force for each rear hub against a torque wrench as per Bodsys brake bible. Once you have done this you take the car onto the road and put it into the bed in procedure and run through the process of driving up to the speed recommended and applying the epb letting it cool and repeating for the fixed number of times or until the car says it is completed the process. If you have done this procedure more than once or didn’t follow the process of adjusting and setting the positioning of the shoes with the Allen wrench adjustment there is a good chance you have overheated the shoes and the linings have broken down.
This essentially means you need to strip down to inspect them to see, as there possibly is nothing wrong with the sob module and the problem might be that the linings have deteriorated or detached from the metal shoes.
I had a new shoe where the Allen screw adjuster was faulty and gave a similar situation as it caused the sob bed in process to fail and it was giving symptoms that looked like the epb module Must stop buying shiny toys....

I have bedded in twice before over the
Years on disc changes, and no issues i surprised
Myself.
This time i needed to change shoes, so after putting discs on it went well
I adjusted the adjustment and allen key bolt per bodsys
Bible.
I got on road starting bedding in fisst one went ok then
I waited for shoes to cool.
Moved of again engaged the epb and started this
Whirring clicking electrical whining noise.
Dash lights went red.
I switched if them moved of and reg light went off so i tried epb again.
Same problem.
So i switched of/ on and as said was beyond
Me so i took to garage, they havent touched it yes
So i was going to go pick it up and try the module
Replacement kit myself.
Thats were my origional q related to i was wondering
As per the video could i repair in place and not have
To remove the cables from the wheels and cab
