Parking sensors & camera unavailable

Hi,

Sorry for yet another parking sensor issue but I could do with a bit of advice regarding my next steps in sorting them.

The history so far is:

- got the “camera unavailable contact dealer” message last week
- the IID tool showed 2 faults B1B57 and B1B58 - essentially front and rear sensors power circuit - general electrical failure - circuit short to ground

- to try and eliminate the front sensors/harness I used the IID tool to edit the CCF and remove the front sensors
- this worked and the B1B57 message disappeared however the B1B58 error (rear sensors short to ground remained)

- I assumed therefore that the problem was with the rear

- I’ve removed the rear bumper and tested the harness electrically
- I can’t find any shorts and all the wires have continuity
- I’ve sprayed all the plugs with contact cleaner - although internally all looked clean and dry

- I’ve tried to test (listen for the clicking) for all the rear but can't hear anything (I guess because the system has a short and is therefore not working)

- the plug in the rear light cluster (that feeds the bumper harness) I’ve not fully tested - mainly because I’m not sure what I’m looking for - BUT

- the blue and white wire (which connects to the brown wire in the bumper harness) has continuity to earth.

is this correct - or does this indicate the short is elsewhere?

Any advice as to the next steps would be appreciated

Thanks

Paul

Okay a brief update - and solution.

Based on some other threads that indicated that the sensors could short internally, I bought 4 new sensors. I used Amazon Prime so they were delivered this afternoon.

So bumper off again (much easier the second time) and new sensors fitted.

Camera and both sets of sensors now working. Faults cleared with the IID Tool and not returning - all in all a result.

Hi,

I've just had this exact fault on mine.

IID says fault on both fronts and rear and camera unavailable message etc.

Is it a bumper off job for the rear sensors or can they be popped out with the bumper on? Nah, that would be far too easy so Landrover would do that surely. Rolling Eyes Rolling with laughter

This doesn't answer your question... But on the D3, the 2 outside sensors can be removed without taking the bumper off.

Not saying it's quicker, or easier... But it can be done (on a D3).
