| 2012 D4 HSE Bluetooth - Poor Sound |

Hello,
Our 2012 D4 HSE has developed an annoying habit of cracking / stuttering with the Bluetooth audio during a call (makes it impossible to use). Is the module built into the head unit or is there something that we can try to switch out?
Any other ideas as to what might be causing the issue. All other sound is perfect (DAB, Radio, RSE, etc.)? Have not checked playing Bluetooth music - will try that.

Try another phone.
I had a problem once with mine when my phone got a firmware update. Before the update the call quality was really good. After the update it was terrible. Other phones were fine and when I changed my phone it was solved again.
HTC wouldn't believe that their firmware had broken anything and said I should update my car to one that was compatible with their phone. 
That was the last HTC phone I ever owned.  MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added
MY2019 D5 HSE 3.0 SDV6 - sold to a dealer for a crazy price! - So good I bought another!
MY2012 D4 HSE 3.0 SDV6 - retired to a new home

Thanks @JonM - I have tried multiple phones (Apple and non-Apple) and the same thing. Been like this for ages, but really annoying now! 2016MY Landmark + RSE

Any suggestions on this? The 2012MY has the Gen 2.1 of the system and I wondered if the whole thing could be upgraded / maybe even include CarPlay and then can switch from the inbuilt Nav? 2016MY Landmark + RSE

tried a "hard reset" of the car ? .

I have exactly that problem on my D4 2010. Started with my I phone a while ago, no updates made as far as I remember. Have updated phone since and no improvement Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

Any one find out of the new bt module can be used?
Would be good to know. Mine has started crackeling as well. Just deciding to try or not.

I have the same problem in my 2013 D4. Tried different phones and the all do the same. Music seems to do well. Hope anybody has a solution because its almost not usable anymore

I’ve noticed the very same thing on my recently purchased (new to me) 2012 LR4 HSE. Very annoying…very crackly, etc though music audio in my LR sounds fine. Any resolution available?
