Engine Overfilled - DPF Regen?
Last time I checked my oil it was on max and has been ever since I got the car last Novemebr.
Checked the oli tonight and the dash gauge says overfilled. Checked level using iiD and it says I have 7.4L
I guess its caused by the dpf? So what is the best device to buy to extract some oil and how do I check for correct operation of the dpf before I completely change the oil. Would oil fuel dilution cause the ECU to request an oil service far sooner than anticipated? Car was serviced in November an has done less than 3000 miles since.

I think you've just missed the Lidl oil pump ... they seem to get good reviews. Maybe the ALDI equivalent is on offer?.

Do the Lidl or aldi pump have enough suction as you cannot put the tube down in the sump?

Excuse me for being a little dim, or missing the point.
Are you saying that for the last 5 months the car has shown the oil level as full and now, suddenly, it is 2l overfull without you doing anything?

Yes exactly that. I’m thinking it’s too much for fuel dilution.
Car runs fine though. I understand injector leakage needs investigating.Just 'cause you got the power... that don't mean you got the right.

I'd order a 12v oil pump off amazon and pull what you can out then top up with fresh oil to the right level.

Pump is on order, not driving it until I’m back to 6 litres but I’m worried how the oil level went so high in a short space of time. I purposely avoid short journeys by maybe it needs driving hard occasionally too?Just 'cause you got the power... that don't mean you got the right.

I would do a complete oil change, measure the amount of oil removed to check it against IID tool then get oil checked for dilution to see what's going on.Stu

I've had pretty much the same experience!
I bought my D4 in November last year and the oil level was reading OK and now it's reading overfilled. I understand it could be oil contamination in the sensor.
It's being services in a couple of weeks, so we'll see what happens then!Cheers

Thats the plan, new oil is arriving tomorrow.
Once that’s done I’ll have a look at some live values see if there is any clue as to what might be going on, whilst watching for any change in the oil level.Just 'cause you got the power... that don't mean you got the right.

I know an owner who had to replace his VERY new D4 V6 engine because fitter over-filled with oil and the engine began ingesting and burning its own lub-oil (I don't know how the oil entered the cylinders).
The oil intake was out of control, the engine just revved and revved and wrecked itself.
Pretty scary guys !!!

My car showed overfilled at the end of last year after having been fine (showing full) for 5 months since servicing. I put it down to incomplete regenerations to clear the DPF where the extra diesel ends up in the oil. We had done quite a few short journeys through the summer. Had oil and oil filter changed. Indy agreed it was pretty likely that it was that. It was fine afterwards and has been since, so not a sensor fault.
Couldn’t find the oil dilution service setting/change on the diagnostic so just reset the whole service setting as it will be done at 12m full service interval. The oil dilution indicators are just a calculation so not too much help, but the obvious ‘overfilled’ indicator is a tell tale sign.
I’ve bought a pump now and plan an end of year oil and filter changes now because of this.Gary

I wouldn’t even start it up with oil diluted like yours. You can always check the level with my well proven dipstick method, if only to confirm your reading is accurate, if the contamination is fuel it will work like an oil flush cleaner, this cleans all the sludge off the internals of the engine and mixes with the oil and in bad case blocks the oil filter, you won’t know it’s blocked because the system has a saftey bypass, don’t forget the oil can also be diluted with water although there will be other symptoms. :thumbs up:
