Check the parts are 100% mated before blaming the clip.
I'm told that in the world of performance VWs, self-tappers are used to keep these from separating under boost pressures..

Well was thinking of that very option.
Drill in corners and use a self tapping screw, that should hold in in place for sure but wondered if anyone else has done this.

These are a little troublesome once disturbed.
Make sure you always use a new o ring part number: LR008353
Then with the clip off completely push it together a bit with finger pressure to make it a bit more compressed, then put back on & make sure that the clip is located behind the lugs on the back of the plastic housing by giving it a little wiggle.
