Each time my friend lifts his bonnet he checks the coolant level by removing the cap and looking inside the coolant bottle see Pic A.
It appears low so he adds just a bit not really paying much attention.
Tonight he added quite a bit and so makes a note to check for leaks at the weekend. He also gets out the drivers manual because it’s unclear what the graduations on the side of the bottle show. He’s found out from the manual that the actual coolant level marks on the other side of the bottle shown in pic B.
It looks like the level is now way too high and he will be sucking coolant out this weekend.
Is he the first to ever make this mistake? Whats the worst that could have happened? Stupid LR design? He would appreciate any thoughts on the issue....

Nothing to worry about! The filler cap has a safety valve which blows if pressure gets too high due to heat expansion.
On the bottom photo you can see a black bleed screw, just slacken it off while the engine is cold with the engine running until the level drops. I agree the level markings are poor, but the coolant should not require a regular top up if ever, should the level fall low a warning light will come on, same with the washer bottle.It can when others can't,
