NOCO 1 - trickle charging main and stop/start battery
Thanks for this wonderful community! - got given a NOCO 1 charger (1amp slow charger)… it seems like it’s got a lot of brains.
I’d like to trickle charge both batteries to keep them in top condition (esp. the stop/start battery)
Can I just clip it to the AGM stop/start charger to top up (without removing any connectors)
Likewise with the main battery, can I clip onto the + / - points without removing the connections.
I’ve read that I should clip positive to battery and negative to an earth point to prevent reset of BMS system with the main battery?

I charge my batteries whilst in the car (D4) using my charger without removing the cable connections. My charger provides instructions for doing so. Always connect the negative to an earth point on the body when charging in the car. I have a CTEK MSX 7. My charger states that it can safely be left to trickle charge , as it adjusts the amount of charge supplied accordingly.
Obviously can't comment on your particular charger.

Would this be a good way to top-up the batteries? Noco have just released a 12v lighter socket plug.

I charge with a CTEK direct to the terminals of the S/S battery.
The main battery I use the towing electrics socket with an adapter bought from here, not sure they are available at the moment?
Yes, I believe you are correct about not charging the main using the negative terminal.
Hope that helps?

I like mine to be totally free of charge.

With the SS warning light on? It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

kim0785b; if you keep the main battery charged the car will look after the SS battery what’s more you don’t need to charge it unless the SS warning light is on, the easiest and best way to charge the main battery is through the white tow bar socket if you have one.
Liddle have proper smart 3.5amp smart chargers for £15, you are almost wasting your time with a 1amp charger It can when others can't,
