single 'beep/alarm chirp' every hour when parked and locked

I have a 2010 Discovery 4 that has developed a strange single 'chirp' when locked on my drive...I have no idea how long it has been doing this, I only discovered it when I was working in my garage recently and noticed a single, high pitched noise coming from the driveway (I though it was from my neighbour's house, or possible even my caravan - CO sensor?), but over the last few days I was determined to find the source and so waited on the driveway for it to happen again...I realized that it happens hourly at exactly 27 minutes past the hour (on my watch) and I can now confirm it's the car.
What would cause this? It's not the horn, totally different noise, so must be alarm related and I've recently had the car in for a service, during which they charged the battery, so I'm guessing it's not related to a low voltage.
Any ideas what would cause this 'chirp or squeek' alarm noise that happens so regularly?

Not familiar with earlier D4s, but could it be the car isn’t actually locked (or certain doors/tailgateis not) and it is trying to indicate ? You could try the doors to confirm.
Other thought, a third party device if you have any connected.
Interested to know what you find.

Hi Gary,
Many thanks for your reply...there's nothing 3rd party connected, all very 'stock'. I'll check the doors/tailgate/bonnet sensors, but to be fair whenever I try to lock the car and a door is open, I get the 'double beep' to alert me that something's not closed properly.
I know the bonnet sensors can be temperamental, it could be that...I wonder if a fault code would show anything?
Suffice to say, when the car is unlocked, I don't get the noise (I still find it odd that it's always at the same time - 28 minutes past the hour).
More investigation to come - will keep the forum posted as I find out more.

Have you tried all the doors and tailgate after you lock it to check they are actually locked?
(If you have keyless , ensure that you put that out of range before trying to open).
As you say very str.angel it’s at the same time.
Have you had the car since new? Could the previous owner have added something (security device for instance), that you are not aware of?
Good luck

Just thinking about what might beep a little further. I wonder if it’s worth testing your parking sensors?
Wild guess, but 5 mins to check. Might be some kind of short.

Gary,

Car bought used from a Farmer! We are the 2nd owner and i'm confident there's nothing additional electrically that's been put on.
Not tried the doors once locked to confirm, will do that this evening (key fob at a distance).
Parking sensors...not thought of that - how would I test that system?

I agree it’s unlikely to be connected with parking sensors, but I was thinking through beeping.
I searched for a simple test on the forum but although lots of parking sensor issue posts (search parking sensors), no simple tests reported other than putting into reverses and taking the epb off and going to listen to see if they are clicking. Can’t work out how you’d do this without running yourself over.
How about putting in reverse to activate them, and getting someone to cover each in turn? Sorry, nothing more ingenious than that.
If you have the screen that shows proximity of sensor to a surface you might be able to see a missing area on that.
Have you got a code reader or live near to someone that has?
Cheers
 Gary

Hi Gary,
I do have access to a code reader at a local car club...coincidentally, I had the car in recently on the diagnostic to check for any error codes as my upper tailgate switch has stopped working (I recently changed the actuator to remedy the situation but the rubber switch still does not operate, though works perfectly when you press the button on the key fob, so i was hoping a reset would make the switch work) - the computer did not register any fault codes at all.
That said, perhaps this was down to the type of code reader, so I may have to send it to a dealer to do a proper job Big Cry

There’s plenty of info on here about replacing that switch , so have a search. It’s possible it’s connected, perhaps.
It seems you’re not the first to report this issue, see thread in link below, although no solution offered I am afraid.

I see you got an answer on that topic link, regarding a backup battery for the alarm. Let us know if you find/fix anything so we can close this one off with an answer for anyone else that has this issue.
Good luck
