P004B - 77 Turbocharger / Supercharger Boost Control |
|
Or to give this fault code its full title …..
P004B - 77 Turbocharger / Supercharger Boost Control (Solenoid B) Command position not reached
Hi again all - looking for someone to be kind enough to share their learned experience. Have searched and can’t find anything specific to this code alone.
Car (2016MY SDV6 D4) went into limp mode the other day while overtaking when climbing a hill. An embarrassing failed overtake…. Felt like I was back in my mates old Isuzu trooper
Had two fault codes initially (using IID tool) but I checked the MAF’s (both clean) and the MAP (sooted - needed clean and hole now twice the size after cleaning). I now just have P004B-77 and can clear (by switch off or IID) and then re-create restricted performance at will with hard acceleration
P00BF-00 (2F) Mass or volume air flow B circuit range/performance - Air flow too high
- Test Failed
- Test Failed This Monitoring Cycle
- Confirmed
- Test Failed Since Last Clear
P004B-77 (27) Turbo/supercharger boost control solenoid B - circuit range/performance - Mechanical failure - commanded position is not reachable
- Test Failed
- Test Failed This Monitoring Cycle
- Pending
- Test Failed Since Last Clear
As ever, I appreciate any help or advice offered Corris Grey SDV6 D4 2015 HSE

Update - Solved (probably … )
Picking up on various similar fault code suggested solutions from other threads I decided I had nothing to lose by checking the TSOV. Easy enough to do. Hard to know how sticky it was to start with as it took a few tries to get the best leverage to move the rod but was definitely getting a better range of motion by the time i finished lathering it in WD40.
Net result, I can no longer induce restricted performance, no matter how hard I tried, so happy days again. Have to say there is no doubt the car is much brisker and early signs suggest fuel economy may be improved. Both had felt a bit down of late
Going forward I’m going to work on the principle that TSOV lubrication is a normal part of annual preventative maintenance. Corris Grey SDV6 D4 2015 HSE
