Little (and big) bites

Go on, then. After wasps and things, what is the most painful bite you have had?

Me? A weaverfish that got me in the underside of a knuckle as I tried to rescue "this little fish" from a shrimp-net. Second comes a bite by a woodlouse spider (it bites through woodlice, so it knows what it's doing!).

Haha….
I too stood on a weaver fish spine. Doesn’t count as a bite I know. The swelling and pain worked its way up my leg to above my ankle. Warm water apparently helps ( hence the stories of others peeing on it). My wife ran and got some cold water as we didn’t know until a life guard informed us about the hot water. The cold water made it worse.
I was informed afterwards that it is the most poisonous British animal. Cleared up in 3 hours and no problems afterwards. Worrying at the time.

Weaver fish are a big deal here on west coast of Ireland, in the shallows at beaches. Lifeguards in Lahinch / Co Clare deal with at least one a day during the summer, hot hot hot water, as hot as you can take it. Effects usually gone within 30 mins but they are a bitch. In my 30 yrs surfing here I have been lucky to never get one but then I tend to surf off the reefs more than the beaches, but they are sore.

The builder that was modernising my house stung me pretty bad when he sent me the bill, does that count? Shocked Big Cry

My fault really, I didn't get him to quote me for the amendments to the original plans before giving the go ahead, still hurt though!

Joking aside I was describing the mahoosive wasp I fond in my loft and was told not to worry too much about the big ones, it's the little ones you have to watch out for. Surprised
A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.

back in the day as a 15 year old youngster wearing Doc Martins lace up Airwair boots to the local youth club i was struck by a massive repeated pain in my foot, but was riding my bike and had to stop and get off my bike whilst constantly being hit with what felt like lightning bolts in the toes and top of my foot.

By the time I got my boot off I was in agony and two wasps fell out of the boot and my toes were covered in stings - still remember the pain it was agony!

Makes me cringe just the thought of the weaver fish , indeed hear that’s one of the most painful things

When I was 15 in the 80’s my parents took me to Florida and went down to the keys , my brain wasn’t engaged as whilst walking along the beach i stepped on the tentacles of a jellyfish that had been washed up, there were loads of them, later finding out it was a Portuguese man o' war, don’t know how it compares but certainly brought tears to my eyes, local lifeguard centre poured vinegar on it , christ it hurt for a few days

I guess no-one on this thread has met the Highland midges.
