D4 SDV6 LHS Inlet Manifold Now Replaced
so in summary none of the 5 Zürich Land Rover garages could do the work in less than a month starting Sept 15th as they are so short of mechanics and have lots of existing bookings for such a major job. So in the end on the recommendation of a friend, I took it to Auer Land Rover in Germany.
It took me a bit of persuasion for them to accept the job 1) you are not an existing customer of ours 2) we do not like the idea of your self-diagnosis of the problem 3) we do not normally accept aftermarket parts but as the OEM is not available, ok then
But once they had the car they did it in 2 days, when I called to ask if they were sure the problem was solved, the head of the workshop, said, Mr Dodds we have an unrestricted motorway on our doorstep, next question....
Really glad to have the car back, and to have the money to pay the bill, which was something like GBP 2,900 all told as they had to drill out a bolt, 10 hours of labour and the new injectors etc. I took the advice and used an OEM gasket for the aftemarket manifold

from what I have read in the attempt to diagnose it seems the LHS manifold breaks far more often that the RHS, for whatever reason. And I used the soapy water test to diagnose with my wife, revving the car instead of smoke

so the cost was more than the timing belts and I thought that was the biggest job I would face
