Hi folks, greetings from Tokyo still. Will bung up some pics in a bit but the breaking news is we’re in for a Typhoon tonight, as advertised in the JR trains on our travels.

It doesn’t seem to be a big thing at the mo, asking about it gets a bit of a shrug and a polite “ah yes, a typhoon is passing through tomorrow”. It looks like the warning for Tokyo area has downgraded it to a Tropical Storm though. We’re on the 30th floor so should be a good view and well clear of the tidal surge.
At least we won’t starve, lovely nibbles + champers in the lounge tonight.

OK, it wasn’t the highest scoring game in the world of baseball, at 0-0 it’s not going to get into the record books. We skipped the 10th, 11th and 12th (innings?) and got the trains back when they were empty enough to get a seat. And yes, much to my distress the lovely Japanese peeps get off their seats and offer them to me at times. Now I really feel my age.
Couple of pics of the game. The phrase “the crowd goes wild” didn’t really apply but there was cheering and clapping when players were dismissed, usually for doing not a lot.

Of course the N Koreans will say it’s an innocent fishing vessel, that happens to be armed to the teeth and have an assault craft in the stern, and a midget sub. Kim Il Scary would be proud.
PPS and the typhoon was a bit of a damp squib, literally. It fizzled out before it hit shore and all we had was a bit of heavy rain.

Great day at the sumo.
Deffo got more and more action packed as we hit the seniors level. Here’s 3 vids that give a feel for it.
Getting back to Yokohama was a bit of fun in the Tokyo rush hour. By tech, ninja train hopping skills and plain blind luck we ended up on 2 local trains and an express, all getting a seat!! Deffo travel gods were with us.
Got a few pics from travels around Yokohama, will bung them up in a bit.

Some pics from last couple of days in and around Yokohama. It’s nice having a fantastic view out over the harbour, lots to watch with our feet up and cup of coffee/tea on the go.
Another USNS ship, this time the Guam. Think high speed ferry meant for Hawaii, ferry Co went bust and long story shortened it ended up, to quote Village Peeps, in the Navy.

And another Nippon Maru, did a double take on the name but it’s the same as the one tied up in front of our hotel. S’pose if you end up as a permanent memorial then your name is fair game.

The port museum has a couple of addictive simulators.
Firstly pick up the container and put it on the truck. Sorry for the sweaty t-shirt but it wasn’t that hot (31c) but super humid!

And pilot a boat from one part of the harbour to the other. Great fun if the wind is dialled up to max and weather switched to full on hoolie. A lot harder than it looks.

T’is indeed a Zero. It crashed on Guam and was “returned” to Japan in 1968 (ISTR). Was a total wreck but the JSDF peeps did a good restoration job.
There were a few cockpits you can sit in with a volunteer looking after you, the T2 (sim plus real a/c) & T4 which I even fitted in!

Unfortunately the stairs up to the F-4 cockpit were closed off. Phantom was deffo the jewel in the crown for me.
