Naviplus Apple Carplay / Android Auto install into a D3
I have recently bought Naviplus’s product to provide Apple Carplay / Android integration to my D3.
This post is supposed to be a series from initial steps till finalizing the process. This post is bit more than open the box experience, I spent some time to identify how the connections will look like, it is a type of dry connection so not in the car. That step will come later.
Advantages of Naviplus:
• Original 4x4 screen will remain
• No ugly screens on the dash, car will keep its original look
The order had the following additional / features such as:
• Wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto Add on
• SWC Adapter (music skipping function on CarPlay & Android Auto mode via the steering wheel buttons)
• Reverse Camera (Butterfly shape , CCD Lens)
The package received from Australia had the following components:
• GVIF-PAS-TDIE module:
• Reverse camera and cable extension
• USB cable to connect a phone
• Main loop CB 230426
• Programming panel
• Antenna cables
• Some other cables
• Documentation was sent separately in pdf format
• Netplay I70 module
Shipment to Switzerland was easy, took a couple of days with DHL.
Here comes how wiring will look like, more details will come when real installation will happen in the car - potentially in October time-frame.
Connections:
ACC and ground:

Per documentation connect the above end to ACC and GND wire from the cigar lighter socket. Please see further pictures at SW wiring later. Part of the main loon: CB-230426 V1.0
MIC IN:
The MIC should be connected to MIC IN, the MIC should be located in the cabin. Part of the main loon: CB-230426 V1.0
AUX Cable:
AUDIO L OUT and AUDIO R OUT being connected to the main loom CB-230426 V1.0
Remove the black plug-in from the head unit; connect that cable to the cable provided with the package, while the other end back to the head unit.

This USB cable should be connected to the main loop CB-230426 V1.0 per picture above.
NetPlay module

This features enabling the switch the screen brightness per headlight switch on/off.

• Power/CAN connected from the main loom
• Touch labeled cable from the main loom to Touch on the module
• HDMI input is from Netplay to the GVIF module
• Rear camera input yellow jack to the GVIF module AV
• Programming panel buttons to the program port on the GVIF
I had two questions to Navilpus, based on the feedback I will update the relavant parts.
Touch in connectcion:
This cable end:
Goes here per steps 1: here we have ro remove the case of the factory display module. More details on disassembling the screen module will come when physical installation will take place.
While other part of this cable will be connected to the original touch cable removed in step 1, (step 4 below) referred other end in the picture:

The provided documentation is not 100% clear here, so clarification was requested by Naviplus team.

The CAN bus is the one that goes between the Nav module under the passenger seat and the screen. It's there so the GVIF can switch to the HDMI input when the Nav button is pressed, and so it switches the touch screen from the GVIF to the Screen and vice versa.
It's *supposed* to enable a long press on the NAV button to switch between Carplay and original NAV but I never got that to work. I mounted a button out of sight where I can toggle Carplay/Aux camera input/D3 Nav. I use the Aux camera input for a camera mounted on the back of the caravan.
Don't forget to plug a blanking plug into your Aux input (if your car has one) or you won't get sound. Mine came pre-wired with a loom to the back of the radio head unit that tapped power from the antenna amp output, but that was a huge fail. It looks like they've just gone back to the "Apply power to these wires". I ended up tapping the "Key In" fuse rather than the Aux socket so it doesn't drop out when cranking and starts to boot as soon as the key is inserted.
I re-locate the factory mic to the other side of the interior lamp console and put the Carplay mic in it's place. It picked up masses of noise through the roof, so I've "encapsulated" the mic in some closed cell refrigeration pipe foam, and that's improved it significantly.

I don’t see anything for the d3 listed on the Naviplus website. Can you buy the components separately?
