I had to be recovered yesterday due to repeated 'low fuel pressure' codes triggering limp mode.
The car was driving fine though but only managed a few miles between the limp modes. The car has had a new high pressure pump about 10 months / 5k miles ago. So I'm thinking the issue is most likely to be on the low pressure side.
I have tested the current draw and it pulls 3.5 amps during the ignition on stage and at idle. Does this mean the pump is needing to be replaced or are there any other steps I should be doing to track this down?

Have you fitted a genuine fuel filter?- regardless change it first.It can when others can't,

New filter was put in at the same time as the HPFP so seems unlikely to be the culprit. I almost wonder if the HPFP was replaced as a misdiagnosis and the issue was on the low pressure side all along.
I have a pressure gauge coming today so will see how that looks.
There seems to be a big variance in price between eBay fuel pumps and there oem ones. I wonder if the cheaper ones are any good?

In previous posts on the subject members including Disco-mikey claim the low pressure pump does very little work once the engine is running providing the high pressure pump is good.It can when others can't,

Pull the fuse on the lpfp, if the car drives ok with a dead pump it's unlikely to be the culprit. Just don't gun it!!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
