Hello everyone, I have 05 V8 with 305.000 km, the transmission is not well. When down shift 3rd gets stock and made hard shift, unless wait 1-2 sec. The other thing is if I need power for example go up on something transmission fault comes up, turn the car off and on and fine again. So, transmission is dying, repair it cost start about $2000 if no metallic parts has to change, and can go until $4000. Buying a used one it’s a lottery, there’s any way to check the used one.? What would you do in my case?
I’m from Costa Rica that’s why it’s to expensive
Regards

At 305000km it doesn't owe you anything! Can't see what you've got to complain about, they don't last forever, buy a new or reconditioned box. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I don't think the OP was complainling, simply asking for advice on which way to go, especially as he is located in Costa Rica

Are you using manual shifting when going into 3rd or is it every time it selects 3rd gear in Auto or manual mode? Must stop buying shiny toys....

I would rebuild the valve body with new solenoids and a sonnax zip kit, i did mine back in April and its like a new car.
Cost will be around $600 or so and is a fairly easy DIY process.

Not complaining at all, just asking for opinions.

No, full auto just counting the shift

If the rest of the transmission is good then then this will make a big difference.
