AMK air compressor advice after re-fit. Burning and LOUD |
|
I had planned to renew the beads in my AMK air compressor, but a suspension fault came up before I had time to change them. I checked for air leaks, and all was good, so I thought it must be the compressor. It was the original on the car, so I ordered a new AMK from Island 4X4 removal, and the fitting was ok.
But the new compressor is overheating and making one hell of a noise louder than the engine!! Clearly, I've done something wrong, but I don't know what. I carefully replaced everything back the way it came off! No error codes on the car. When I checked on my reader and tried to raise the suspension, it said the compressor was overheating and very, very hot. I can't even touch the compressor; it sounds like it will blow up if I leave it on!
I could smell the compressor burning, and the noise was so loud I replaced the original compressor back to see if the problem was the new compressor, but it was not. The original compressor is doing the same as the new one before I replaced the original compressor. It was just a warning bong! It must be something I've done wrong.
The three air tubes are in the correct holes
The senor screw is in the correct position
The two electronic connectors only connect to the correct plug
I checked the air hoses, and all look good. They still look new
The software is correct on the car
Changed the relay as instructed
Then, I changed the relay back when the original compressor went back on.
Any advice anyone can share, I would really appreciate, blub: DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!
Before I started I deflated all the corners and the system on my gap tool.

Yes, but the original compressor went back on and its overheating and making a loud noise as well, it wasn't doing that before. It was working fine with no noise or burning smell. It could be but literally it was running fine until I took it off?

I should had, a bit more faith.. it was a faulty compressor! I swapped the original back on and compared again! No way it was as loud and no burning smell!
Interesting though the new compressor worked very well the car moved and down much quicker but the noise!! And the burning smell! And no fault codes,Oh well at least it wasn't me..

Absolute nightmare trying to get a refund! The seller said they would arrange collection, but had no choice to escalate to PayPal! Glad I paid through PayPal.

Another interesting point.. when the replacement air compressor was on the car, the car didn't raise after a certain speed. I could drive the car on both off road and access height! Once the original was fitted back on the car it was okay, the car raised to the normal height when driving over a certain speed.
