Difference in insurance quotes
Weird as they have exactly the same details but the 1st is from compare the market , 2nd from confused.com , strange seeing there from the same insurance company
Did go with Hastings this time seeing my renewal was some £1100 , know many renewals have virtually doubled for many , at the end of the day wished to at least share this in the hope it saves somebody on there policy

I don't know about your quotes, but what I found weird was that despite the wide variation in prices from the retail insurance companies, they nearly all shared the same underwriter.Previously:

‘87 Defender 90 4 cyl Petrol
‘83 110 CSW V8 - best ever!

@WORMS, I wondered that about what underwriters were used , I was advised mine went up due Markerstudy Insurance Services Ltd no longer available
@MOO, holy mother of god, I thought mine was high , fingers crossed u were able to get a better price
Does seem this year in particular that premiums have sky rocketed , really feel sorry for the youngsters trying to get cover if at all and wonder how many drivers will try and risk not having insurance
However with so many cameras around can’t see them getting away with it for very long

The policies on our D4 and my D3 went up by about £50 each for the renewal in September, before I had the renewals docs through from A Plan I looked at the cheapest quote for the D4 from the Meerkats was £8k.
Admiral were £500 or so per vehicle, as it is the A Plan quotes were still the lowest so stayed with them.

For those folks looking with upcoming renewals did read an article that said that around 21days before the start date of the policy is the optimum time to start shopping around.

I think I was doing it on Moneysupermarket and the final column on their table was the name of the underwriter. Best quote for me was branded as RAC, with underwriting by Aviva. But most of the ones I was comparing were all Aviva, too.
Having previously had a bad experience with being overcharged by Aviva on house insurance, I really didn't want to give them any business, but the RAC quote was too good to turn down.Previously:

Just renewed my RRS. Price went from c.£300 to c.£500 with nothing having changed in our circumstances. Had a quick look on comparison sites and LV (the current insurer) were cheapest even with the rise so decided to stay with them for another year.
The worrying thought I have is that large car insurance premium rises are likely going to lead to an increase in uninsured drivers.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

So after lots of searching I finally ended up back at Admiral.
Initial quote was £2600 ish, after chat on phone £2100. They were still the cheapest by miles.
NFU were over £4000!

That was my hope. Never used them but people speak very highly of them so thought I'd give it a go.
Their explanation was other than inflation it was the cost of parts and increased complexity and cost of repair, cost of car hire because it's taking longer to get parts and the increased risk of electric car fires.
It's a real game at the moment.D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)

My cousin has had a Hyundai Tucson on hire through the insurance company for 4 months now even though the car was a write off.
They complicate things no reason as it will not cost them as it is a no fault claim.
I cring how much this claim will cost for the sake of a £4k car.

Wow reading some of the above quotes are eye watering and I thought my insurance of £750 for my D4 and DS3 was expensive.
Why wait, just go for it and enjoy life.
