I can't seem to find a post for what I'm thinking of doing.
So on our D3 I replaced the whole tube but creased the headlining slightly.
I have to replace the same on our D4, my question is can you join the new tube successful to the old one say half way down the a pillar? To avoid dropping the headlining.

Yes I did that a few years back, the interior pillar cover comes away easily. That was a D3 2006.
There ARE warnings about airbags and it's a shame I just can't remember now what I found under there.
But I WAS able to keep the ORIGINAL tube leading upwards in the A pillar to the rectangular trough beneath the sunroof, and to splice this to NEW tube leading down, behind the fuse board and into the floorwell where I opened-up an existing rubber blanking "grommet" and fitted a 90-degree tube elbow so the sunroof would drain out below the floorwell and not out into the wheel arch.
I found thin-wall tube in a DIY or garden centre, intended for automatic watering of flower beds - the tube was a very neat push fit over the original drain tube located in the A pillar.

Yes, I was just too worried about disruption from moving that box with SO MANY wires.
So, I found by gentle and persistent poking I was able to feed the substitute tube down behind the JB until it appeared below and I was able to feed more tube through the gap.
I can't remember if I first removed the old tube (which had been leaking at the lower elbow connecting into the wheel arch).
The substitute tube I used is "floppy" and I'm sure it became squeezed where it passed behind the JB, I remember thinking I must perform a flow test to check how much water succeeds in getting through, but I never got around to doing that. But I DID check that SOME water appeared below the car when poured into the FNS corner of the sunroof rectangular gutter.
I had a fear that if the new tube were to be squeezed TOO MUCH behind the JB then water might backup in the tube, reach the splice halfway down the A pillar and start leaking. I can't promise that NEVER happened but I can say my footwell never flooded again.
If I were to do that job again I'd strongly consider buying one of the real-cheapo USB-connected inspection cameras I've seen advertised, there's a version where the tip of the probe contains both a camera and an LED. Might help a lot in determining how much room REALLY exists behind the JB.
Guess I'd tape the head of the probe to a thin stick, maybe slightly springy. WISH-WISH-WISH those cams were available 5 years ago !!

Don't know if it would help but using those thin rods electricians use to help feed through cables in inaccessible areas ight be useful.
Although I haven't used them in a vehicle, I have found them thoroughly helpful in other situations.

Does the D4 (UK) passenger side sunroof drain go all the way down behind the CJB?
I thought on the D4 it was similar to the drivers side on the D3 because there is a Vent in both outer wings.
If I'm wrong I've been given duff info on here a few years ago and will need to check my D4 urgently. Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

Yes definitely goes behind CJB on my 2016 MY D4, and many references to doing that job on here with disruption to CJB. After that it goes out of the wing vent. Gary

Sorry I'm confused.
I know there are lots of threads on here about the drain tubes and CJB, but thought they were all D3 not D4.
I'll have to have a look later, but I'd have thought the wing vent is higher than the CJB?
I'm probably wrong though. Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

The CJB was definitely in the way of mine ( D4,). I don't know that it goes down behind it , more like the top of the CJB is in the way of it ( and right where the notorious elbow goes). Gary

I remember when I replaced the tube on my D3 and had to move the CJB that it was a pig of a job with my fat fingers, and thought the tube was routed differently on a D4 in a similar way to the Drivers side.
I need to go and get my head around where everything is in relation to each other. Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.
