Looking to upgrade the tug for next years trips with the caravan. Looking for something that is a little less prone to pinging at me, particularly when towing.
Narrowed it down to two choices, both the same price and both Euro6 to visit family in London over Christmas.
The D4 is a year older but done 20k less miles, 7 seats Landmark edition so lots of toys and bells as well as side steps. Forgot to check if it has tow electrics but not a biggie. Of course the full spare.
A Range Rover Sport HSE, a year newer so around £200 less tax per year. Also 7 seats but that means no full size spare, panoramic roof with blind and electric deployed towbar (pristine paint on the ball so never been used). My wife's disability means it needs side steps fitting which the dealer will do FOC if I supply.
Not likely to do anything adventurous so do I even need a 4x4 but I have always preferred Land Rovers. They will probably do more miles with the van on the back than not as we have an EV as the run-around, a bit of me is uncomfortable with the lack of a real spare but in truth I haven't had a puncture for decades.
It is a bit of a split decision at the moment so anyone got some thoughts to throw in the pot? It might be something I haven't thought of. A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.

When we were looking at Land Rover we had the option of a D4 or the Range Rover. Luckily we were leant a Range Rover for a month to see what we preferred.
We choose the D4. With two Alsatians and scuba diving as our hobby it was just better all round.
I wanted the Range Rover initially but having the option to drive both knocked that on the head! Space and storage is better and i found the ride better.

My wife has a RRS and I have a D4, I prefer the D4, she prefers the RRS. For me I like the slightly more rugged look and the extra space of the Disco, but if they're not a necessity, then I would think the RRS may be a better option. In my opinion they're both great looking cars that are very capable. Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

D4 Every time over a RRS. It's comfy, practical,a great tow car and you don't look like a drug dealer.
However, the XC90 is also very impressive and is pretty close in terms of practicality to the D4 but better technology and the seats are just sublime. Lots of us went from D4 to XC90.
If you're thinking new then the new Land Cruiser looks good. D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)
