Debadged 2009 Disco 4HSE - SDV or TDV?
Hi all
My first post here. I am about to buy a 2009 Disco 4 HSE. It was originally a Swiss car, now residing in France and the Carte Gris confirms it as 245hp. It is advertised as the 3.0 SDV but, depending on where you look on the interweb, LR also produced a 3.0 TDV in 2009, with similar numbers (see link below).
I am asking if anything in the documentation confirms it as an SDV or in fact it's actually the TDV.
My questions are:
- Does it matter when the Carte Gris says 245 hp (apart from fact it's being advertised as an SDV)
- Does anyone know if there was the option to debadge one's new Disco 4 when they were originally purchased (or in fact was this done recently so as to remove the TDV and then market it as an SDV)?
Right now I have no reason to doubt the validity of advert or the integrity of the seller, but I wanted to know if anyone here might be able to offer some reassurance (or not!). Thanks in advance!

Thanks Bicycle repairman. Fair enough, perhaps I should have listed all of the sources I reviewed before posting, but Wikipedia was included and I suppose my point is that there are other sites that don't chime with what is written there either. I certainly consider Wikipedia a good source, but by no means definitive. The debadged nature of the car, also leant me to posting here.

Have you tried vindecoderz? The build sheet has come up on that for both of mine.

OK so that worked and returned the below. There are many codes but only one that references the model (TDV or SDV), which is Trim level: L319 Trim Packs - 3.0 TDV6 HSE [350FQ].
I write the next bit with some caution (!): do we think this means it is a TDV, even though Wikipedia and other sites (like Car Gurus) state that the TDV only had the reduced output engine??
The Carte Grise is clear that the car has the higher output (245 PS; 180 kW; 242 hp), however, I can find 2010 models that are clearly a TDV as per their badge. This debadging is frustrating. I'm asking the seller if there is any documentation that confirms it's a SDV as advertised.
It's annoying and frustrating as I am keen on the vehicle but the lack of consistency here doesn't sit right.

Have you been able to put the full VIN into the vincoderz site mentioned above? As well as the build-spec, that should show a summary like mine including info on the engine:
Previously:
2010 FL2 TD4e GS
‘93 Defender 110 200TDi CSW - still got this, non-runner on SORN.
‘87 Defender 90 4 cyl Petrol
‘83 110 CSW V8 - best ever!
Range Rover 2-door V8 (not sure of year - 4-speed box and vacuum diff switch)
Series III SWB Diesel

Thanks Worms. Yes, I was able. This is what came back. Nothing here suggests TDV or SDV to my untrained eye...

Does your build-list mention badges?
Hidden amongst my full (page and a half of text!) list I have:

There is actually no badge on the car, though! I don't think it has been removed, but perhaps the list of factory-fitted optional extras made badging it as an 'S' redundant.Previously:

Yep Worms. I did a cntl-f for "badge" yesterday and I am leaning toward the same conclusion as you: it was selected as an option. This said, I don't recall seeing HSE on it but I didn't take any photos, so I am probably wrong there.
I found another SDV6 HSE on the internet which also has the VINcheck results and it has the same trim level set - L319 Trim Packs - 3.0 TDV6 HSE [350FQ] (https://www.arabam.com/ilan/sahibinden-satilik-land-rover-discovery-3-0-sdv6-hse/sahibinden-land-rover-discovery-3-0-sdv6-hse-2011-model-tam-bakimli-eksiksiz/23868735) and it is badged as a SDV.

I thought all the early D4 were badged on the tailgate as “3.0 TDV6” then the model.
SDV6 came in later.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Hi Martin! I am a LR noob so not sure. The vehicle started life in Switzerland. Do you know any resources where one can find all the options a buyer could choose from in 2009/2010 when ordering their new Disco 4? That's what I am trying to find, but so far no joy. That would be quite useful to see what options were available vs. what was selected.
For example, this car also has apparently an option remote Westabo heater that warms the car up when a button on the remote control is pressed! We live in the Alps and so it will be most welcome. The seller reckons it was an optional extra from new but I've found virtually nothing on it online. It certainly doesn't have the TDV (or any other) badging on the right hand side of the tailgate as you look at it from the rear....

The dealer info pack sheet from when the D4 was announced - should cover your D4.
Yes the Webasto heater will be fitted, and a remote can be fitted - either the factory remote setup (Telestart) or aftermarket (e.g Altox).
As a Swiss HSE you might have timed climate settings on your centre screen, worth a look in the manual for where these could be.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
