Where did you get the correct size inserts Gary? I can reuse the one from the cut pipe into the compressor for now.
Hardest part is that all the brackets for the captive nuts fot the mount broke as I dissassembled ... might have to put rivnuts in.

I haven't used inserts on any of the joints I've made on my D3 and only had 1 connector fail, it came apart an insert wouldn't have helped. Luckily I had a spare with me, as you do!
I can't remember if the captive nuts were M6 or 8,but they're available on ebay and Amazon (next day if you have Prime)

Here u go mate, plus not wishing to teach u how to suck eggs but plse measure the internal size of the pipe for the inserts , normally the pipe hose wall is 2mm thick but best to check beforehand
This company also sells the brass push fits , pipe etc
Apologises but trying to see what u mean with regards to the captive nuts
Hope that helps

Excellent. Thanks both. All really helpful.
If I can get the captive nuts sorted I can remount so I can cary on using them and then add the inserts later for peace of mind.

Ur so welcome
are u talking about the compressor bracket captive nuts plse , if so I used M8’s for those, part number RYH500170
Great call that pwheeldon suggested with regards to getting them off eBay or Amazon, as I had the compressor out I also gave the chassis a few coats of dinitrol
Also replaced the M8 x 25mm bolts with stainless steel , part number FS108256
Hope that also helps

Thanks Gary. They are indeed m8, just double checked. I will get my sister to order some on her amazon account.
Just done the exhaust valve solenoid. Lots of silica dust in there. I really hope this solves my issues!

Great pleasure my friend in helping where I can
That’s a shame with the silica, alas mine was everywhere , all down to neglect from previous owners leaving it so long
Hopefully the airlines / valve blocks etc will be completely free from any silica dust , have considered for the future to adapt and fit an airline debris trap to prevent any silica clumps etc from entering the system ever again
Plus the vacuum testing each valve block / airline as at least then u know 100% it’s fully working and not anything else causing a problem , therefore eliminating it as u progress through the testing process , suppose the knowledge and experience I gained from me plumbing / heating days really helped as I put together testing rigs etc
Fingers crossed u don’t have the same issue with the valve blocks as regardless of the meticulous care I took cleaning out and fitting new seals it still failed the let by vacuum test
Another trick I learnt when blowing the airlines out from any silica was fitting an isolating lever valve on one end, putting some air into the pipe and then slowly cracking open and closing the isolating valve to blast any debris out , only need 1-2 bar
Hope that’s also useful to u and plse let us know how u get on

Also wished to share the items that I built up over time that were very useful
Using an external air compressor the tyre inflator was invaluable as it allowed me to pressurise and monitor different sections step by step with a half decent amount of accuracy
At the end of the day hope it helps of the kit I built up and therefore saving u time and money

Useful stuff Gary. Thanks.
Alas - this silica is really down to my neglect. I know the system is more complex on the D3 but I have never ever had to go near the air compressor on the D2 (people used to report they were plagued with errors but mine has been very good).
Anyway - compressor all rebuilt now so fingers crossed I havent screwed something up and it all works properly. The worst part was that I got superglue on top of the exhaust valve end pad as well so had to carefully remove that with acetone as its quite hard on top of the rubber so wasnt sure what the seal would be like. I cant really test it as I need to wait for the captive J bolt things to arrive tomorrow, then I can get the mount back up and all connected. I will need to modify the smaller of the two rear hoses but that shouldnt take too long i hope.

Well. Clips all arrived, Compressor bolted back up (slotted the bracket for the top bolt hole otherwise I would still be trying to locate that bolt...!). A quick try on the ramp and all seemed good. Raised and lowered without getting stuck and going into extended mode as the rear tries to drop. A short test run this evening and no dash lights or faults on the reader. Fingers crossed this has worked!!!!!
