SCV6 petrol in the UK?

Curious as to why there are so few SCV6 the petrol versions in the UK. Given that Petrol is now more affordable and perhaps cleaner is there a reason for LR to have sold so many diesels here?

Would love to hear of any owners and their experiences. Can you import one from say the Netherlands.

New Zealand 2006 Discovery 3 4.0 V6 Petrol SE Auto Bonatti GreyDiscovery 3

I'm in New Zealand with a 2006 D3 SE with the 4.0L V6 petrol Ford Cologne engine. Tows my 24 foot caravan easily. I'm more than happy with it. I sleep easy at night, not worrying about snapping my crank shaft!

Mine was imported second hand from Japan therefore RHD (in NZ we drive on the left same as UK).

I recently saw a D4 Jap import here on NZ auto trader website. 2010 with the 5.0L V8 petrol Jag engine. Nice looking wagon.

So if you want a petrol D3 or D4 maybe you could consider sourcing one from Japan.

Cheers Blake

The 5.0 V8 was the naturally aspirated version rather than the supercharged (SUCH a shame!) so it has 300+bhp and will be silky smooth but thirsty as hell.

Having said that my last 5.0 SC I managed to get 24mpg.

I just wish they’d made the D4 with either the 3.6 or 4.4 TDV8. Now that would have been incredible.

In the D4 the Supercharged 4.0 litre V6 replaced the 5.0 naturally aspirated V8.

I keep eyeing up the White 5.0 V8 D4..... good price and insurance is reasonable at 3x the Volvo's cost.....

Sadly, I just cant do the man maths in my head to justify it whilst I'm heading up to Wales every fortnight... and also why it been serviced annually with so little mileage added

Possibly cleaner?? LOL.
Isn’t it just a matter of “market” and “old opinions”?

If I was towing, regularly, I’d want the diesel…. but I’m not so the SCV6 is just fine.
I read and watched with interest those reviews slighting fuel economy. And it left me wondering…. are they aware how heavy the vehicle is? And how much performance is adequate or needed?

The 5l had the ZF 6HP. I wouldn’t trade my ZF 8HP.
( what I really want is the 5l, supercharged, with the 8HP and the locking diffs…. I know, I know!! But The Range Rover is “too pretty” for me. I like the LR 4…. i know, i know!! But the new Defender is to much coin.)

I’ll tell you one thing; he (LR4 is a boy) gets better mileage than her (xkr is a girl).

Thanks for initiating this discussion!
Cheers.

Yes correct I stand corrected. Thumbs Up

I believe it is the Jag V6 which is actually the V8 block with two cylinders blocked off.

No relation to the previous 4 Litre V6 petrol.
