My V8 also came without screen, but I mounted an aftermarket android screen which has the 4x4 info, Apple carplay and a screen resolution that makes it useful for navigation. You can add your favourite apps like Waze etc. Easy wiring, just plugs in the head unit loom.

Wow I haven’t heard of one with 4x4 info. Would you mind sharing a link and maybe some pics of the 4x4 info screen? What app does this info on the android unit?

You need a D4 display power connector shell. LR YPC902700
The terminals are £30 per 10 minimum part number is 41841145
I often find Aliexpress a good place to get LR connectors from.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00UNH5MBC?psc...ct_details

Then:
pin 11 on d4 plug. Black wire Earth (at the cigar lighter)
pin 14 on d4 plug, Blue wire piggy back off fuse 57 (or 58)
pin 8 on d4 plug, either to fuse 53 or the thick Purple Blue wire on the back of the radio for +12v PWR

if you want the NAV to work you also need to connect pin 2 to the cars speed MPH wire. This is available under the drivers seat, near the door on a 4 pin connector. Connect to green wire

You will also need to connect a GPS Antenna to the FAKRA connector on the display. (you can get cheap £10 ones to go ontop of the dash (or maybe just under the dash)

To get data to the display for it to do anything you need a MOST cable like this: (this looks a bit long)
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08K2X6WVB?psc...ct_details

Unplug the orange cable from the radio, and then add this loop in to reconnect the radio and new display

See this thread, I have the same unit. 4x4 info screen is available in the menu when it's delivered

Thanks chaps. The discovery 4 retrofit seems a lot easier than I thought with your clear instructions. After finding out the 4x4 screen can be gained in the android units now that’s thrown a spanner in the works. I’m going to have to have a think about the two units now.

Either way I will report back and try and do a write up.
