Horrible to say and no real help to you , But this the very reason RR's and land rovers are getting near on impossible to insure , these are going to be worthless and with the D3's and D4's with the chocolate engines I wouldn't have one as a gift ,
Thought I would be best getting an 08 Range Rover sport tdv8 with key ignition but NO as insurers have tared ALL RR's with the same brush , Takes the p*** , Me in your position I would off load yours whilst you still can , Sad but thats the world we are living in thieves will take it because its EASY money from easy targets .

What price tag you putting on that from jlr?? House insurance don’t cover it and like you say insurance is ridiculous anyway so if I claim the insurance next year will be unreal.

Don't you have key insurance on your motor policy?
Either way, your car is massively at risk. If it's stolen, then your insurer will want to either see two keys or want to know where the other one is. If they don't feel like you have taken the appropriate steps to address the issue, you may well find they won't pay up.
Its sounds like LR is your only solution for new keys so I'd be in there, dropping it off and waiting for new keys etc. At least it's secured and off your policy.
Somewhere out there someone has a copy of your key. Who knows, they may watch your house, follow you to work etc then take it.
One way or another, insurance or self pay, it's going to cots you. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)
