Altox WBUS-5 GPS Sim Card

Evening all,

What sim card providers are people using for this FBH contoller please?

I had an O2 sim which worked fine but was expensive @£10 per month. Got myself a Lyca sim card but just found out they no longer support the 3G network (which I believe the Altox WBUS-5 GPS requires?)

Anyway please let me know!

Cheers
PJ

Not an answer to the question you asked.... But;

I believe a giffgaff sim can be used in the BAS FBHIC3 controller.

Might be worth a look at what "service" that SIM currently supports ?

U want cheap? Look at MSE for “blagged” SIM deals. I got 6 months for 3gb a month for 99p on Lebara for a weather station so doesn’t get anywhere close. When 6 months is up I’ve got it diarised to switch off auto-renew and order another with a fresh email address. Much cheapness. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

PS re 3g switching off, Lebara is on Vodafone. That should be googlable . Thumbs Up

PS Like EE (for Lyca), Vodafone is shutting down 3g, should have finished by now so ignore above. Embarassed

PPS looks like all the networks are shutting down, or have shut down, their 3g in the next year or so.

I have a GSM controller from Radurek on Ebay and I use a RWG mobile PAYG SIM https://www.rwgmobile.wales/rates-plans-eng-per/ which is a 'NOW' SIM rebranded. It uses the EE network and works fine to operate the unit. The only problem I have, which I think is a problem with the unit, is that it's supposed to send a reply message with information like temp and running time, but it hasn't worked since I've had the unit, even with trying a different SIM.
There doesn't seem to be many true PAYG SIM's around any more, as most have gone to 30 day rolling contracts as a minimum.

Did you try any other one, out of interest?

I've been looking out for an Altox WBUS-5 for a while now. Am I right in thinking that once all the 3G services have been switched off the GPS facility will become redundant?

In which case a WBUS-6 or a simple 2G GPS tracker would a better consideration if it's tracking the car location is the primary requirement.

I think they switched off 3G already.

I couldn’t use it earlier in the year on Asda
