Rear ladder

Hi All,

Just bought one of these and have had three attempts to fit it but still haven’t managed it. Feel like a right numpty! It have tried move the top hook to different positions but every time I tightened the various screws the bottom bit always move and fails to catch the tailgate bit. Any help and advice would be appreciated.

The LR ones (and most copies) hook over the top of the upper tailgate section and have a plate that fits behind the plastic moulding on the door that takes two rivnuts to stop it moving... From what you're showing I can't see how that even fixes to the car !
I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Guessing it’s a cheaper Chinese copy of the old Bearmark (I think) ladder. I’ve got the original on mine.

Best to leave the bolt attaching the top bracket to the ladder loose, position it so it’s close to the brake light as possible befor it starts going at an angle and slot the bottom brackets in first. Don’t forget to use the padding as this helps prevent the slippage and damage to the paint. Once it’s in place tighten the top up.
Try and use the photos of mine for the positioning

If it is a cheap copy, the tolerances may not be right, you may need to bend the bolt tab at the top to “shorten” the ladder.

Thanks Kevin,

Is there anything at the bottom of your ladder that’s physically attached to the tailgate? Or does it just hooks to it? Thanks.

Just hooks on, relies on the fact that technically it’s too small for the tailgate. Foam on the bottom “hooks” and under the top steel strap that hooks to the top tailgate and bolts to the ladder is important.
