D3 Auto gear box wiring

Hello, I’m mark and new on here, thought someone on here would have the answer I’m Looking for…

The plug to my gear box had a corroded pin so as I couldn’t find a replacement pin for it, I was advised to swap the plugs for a better ones..

Does any one know what each wire is for, there is two twisted pairs on it and two identical yellow wires? What do these go to?

I have looked at some wiring diagrams, however it saying that twisted pairs are shown with them crossing over. Yet the diagrams for the auto box, do not have any twisted pairs shown but clearly are in the loom.

Thanks in advance

Hi Mark,

You can get replacement terminals and wire seals, from BMW. If you want to go down the pin replacement route then I can advise part numbers.

One pair of twisted wires is the Yellow/Black, Yellow/Brown CAN bus pair. Not sure what the other pair is.

If you've seen the wiring diagrams (307-01) then each wire is shown where it goes and what it is for.

There are indeed 2 yellows and also 2 green/white wires. The 2 yellows are the same size, the green/white are two different sizes.

Both yellows go to the shifter, probably the easiest place for access if you wanted to check for continuity.

They are CAN bus and very important.

Replacement looms are cheap on eBay. Make sure you look closely and get the correct one.
