Keyless entry, can it just be disabled?
Daft question but with all these thefts of (and from) keyless entry cars using piggyback boosters, can this function just be switched off via IID or other widget? I've somehow managed for thirty odd years pressing a button on a keyfob, it's not exactly arduous, and strikes me as a simple solution to stopping theft of cars via the keyless route.
Thoughts oh wise ones out there?

You can still use the buttons on the key fob to lock and unlock. I'm not sure how the boosters work to be honest, but I'd rather be next to the car unlocking it than from 20ft away.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

I'd still be locking and unlocking from besides the car, just using the fob. Boosters seem to just make the car think the key is next to it when it's really too far away to work normally. I can't see any disadvantage to switching off keyless entry, unless it disables keyless start as well.

Yes that's an option, using a tin a to the mo, but that's a bigger PITA than losing the keyless entry as I tend to keep my key in my jeans pocket.

My Lexus key can be switched off when leaving vehicle simply by holding lock button and pressing unlock twice and enabled when I return by pressing any button - so simple I can't believe LR haven't done something similar after all the years they've known about this problem
The faraday pouch from Amazon is cheap though and worked on my RRS

Did a little experiment the other day, walked up to the Disco and opened it as normal with one key in my pocket (2nd key was in the house and out of range). Then returned to house and put key in ordinary kitchen foil, probably A4 paper size, so key was folder over several times.
Then walked out to Disco with key/foil in my pocked and tried to open the door, nothing, not able to use the key-less function. Took key out of pocket and held it right up against door and still couldn't open the Disco.
Spare key i now wrapped in foil permanently, and have ordered a faraday bag also - will do full testing though when it arrives Iggy/Ieuan

I have a pair of faraday bags from eBay, about £8 for the pair I think. Works a treat, car won't open, ever right next to the car. Just need to get into the habit of putting them in there at night.MY2012 D4 HSE Nara Bronze with some extra stuff

I'm not sure I would buy a car with keyless at the moment. It seems to be another 'fad' that seemed like a good idea, but wasn't thought through properly.Richard

Do indeed.
Re faraday bag, by the time I take it out of the bag, unlock the car through the handle, put the key back in the bag I'd have unlocked it through the fob and be halfway into the car. Plus I'd have to keep that key seperate from my other car's key and house keys, no way that lot are going to fit easily in a faraday bag.
Any technical issues against disabling it in the CCF? Law of unintended consequences and all that.

Don't use the bag in the Day Del, just put key in there at evening/not driving etc - I think this is what I'll be doing Iggy/Ieuan

Lexus/Toyota will have patented the idea preventing other manufacturers from using it. As an aside, Volvo developed the 3 point seat belt and instead of patenting it, made it freely available to other manufacturers to improve road safety.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

They are in a tin at the moment but tend to forget about putting the key in there if I've been fiddling with the car. There's been a few times I've been tucked up in bed and suddenly remembered to put the key to bed.
