Epb issues at MOT

I don't use my epb it is only used at mot time. This year (march) it was reported as inefficient but still passed. The tester said he believes the shoes are seized and not moving properly. My question is can I still put the epb into service mode to probably change the shoes and whatever I find on removing the discs

Service mode makes the cable slack, so yes.

If you never use it you might need more than new shoes like springs, knurlers, etc. you can usually get these as kits.

Take a look at Bodsy’s Brake Bible if you haven’t already Thumbs Up

The EPB really ought to be used regularly to stay in working order. It doesn't like sitting for nearly a year unused as it'll risk seizing up not just in the hubs but in the motor module too.

Also, if you ever park away from a flat surface you really ought not rely on the gearbox pin to hold nearly 3 tonnes in place.

Once you've serviced it to replace the various bits in the hub, I reckon you should get in the habit of using it regularly.

As others have said should be used religiously to stop it seizing.
