Hi
Plus 1 what’s already been mentioned , Had exactly the same fault code as ur good self
Made up the tool using a metal coat hanger and indeed removed the heat shields , On inspection I found the turbo actuator arm stuck solid and the jubilee clip going into the turbo was broke , not the top clamp but the lower horizontal clamp
Easy to tell of it’s been leaking as ur see oil spray around the turbo
I got a wider jubilee clamp to replace the old broken one and decided at the same time to replace all 3 x intercooler hoses with silicone ones and t bolt clamps
Using a touch and mirror is very useful , hopefully it’s just the turbo actuator arm stuck , if u get someone to turn the ign on and off ur then be able to watch the arm move , I also used a boroscope
If u do decide to replace the hoses I can provide u with all the clamp sizes required , u may fill the swear jar up as very awkward 🤣
ator does as it moves the vanes open and closed , they get clogged up so then begin to get stuck
Ur then get limp mode
Hope this is also useful to u , of course plse give me a shout if u get stuck ,
Just got to find a picture to add to this post

This is the clamp I mean that broke, bottom clamp that goes onto the turbo horizontally

Wished to add using the gap iid in live data mode u can monitor the movement of the turbo vanes , so as u free the actuator arm up ur see the degrees increase
The electric actuator arm moves the control vanes through a 60 degree stroke
Onto reducing it from sticking again , this is what I found worked for me , tried all, sorts of sprays with no success unless of course ur just trying to free it off as don’t want to be heavy handed
That I soaked the arm and ball with GT85 indeed with a long spray tube , so after you’ve got full movement I used some red grease applied using a battery grease gun with a long flexible nozzle attached
Worked brilliantly as I could apply it directly to the ball part of the actuator arm , it’s called Red Complex Grease for high temperature and high pressure, EP2 Complex Lithium Red Grease
Last picture is the red grease applied
Hope this also helps u along with all the other data from everyone else

That’s it there isn’t it I’m going to see if I can see it moving on its own but I’ll be honest I don’t think I’ve got it to move one bit

Great to hear the info has been useful to u , indeed can be very awkward
Personally raised mine to off road height , axle stands underneath which aided access to the actuator arm
Then watching it whilst someone turns the ign on and off , then spraying it at the same time and using the coat hanger to aid movement if it’s really stuck
Arm moves back and forth
Hope that also helps

Gstuart there is no oil at all around the turbo I think it’s a very stubborn actuator or the veins have a massive carbon build up.
Plan for tomorrow see if I can see it moving by the key was planning on doing it tonight but little lady is tired so game over for day and I’m getting very frustrated with it 😂😂

I tried a bit of Celling hanger wire it’s stronger than a coat hanger but I was trying to do it alone so it was a bit of peeing in wind needles to say it just bent the hanger where I’d folded it over tried pushing it with a long socket attachment but it’s a stubborn git won’t budge one bit I’ve dowsed it in wd40 when I/if I get it free I’ll try a grease to help keep it lubricated I’m guessing as it’s showing high boost that it’s stuck open so I’m guessing it wants pushing towards the engine not pulling away nothing is straight forward or easy with these beasts but I’m learning slowly but surely managed to fix air suspension hopefully turbo then on to handbreak module lower bushes then time for test hopefully it gets an all clear this time I hate advisory’s 😂😂

Thankyou to everyone this forum is very helpful I wish I’d of discovered it sooner my last encounter cost me nearly 1400 to change the instrument cluster because of bad advice from idiots in the end gap sorted it needless to say I now have an ecu instrument cluster 2 keys ignition barrel and a bcm that are no use to me oh and 2005 clocks in a 2009 so it shows a red light with a car above when lights are on 😂 parking break activated instead of engine management but it runs this will do for now it’s a work in progress car but I will get there here is a few pics for your amusement I wasn’t amused but if I don’t laugh it will be on fire 😂😂

I’m also going to get the gap update they said they do the mod where it works full cycle but that probably wouldn’t help me yet but as I have a box I cannot kick it’s head in every now and again to keep it moving properly I tried to clear the egr and my points went from 98 to 50 during one journey but my insurance was half the price so I’m guessing beggars carnt be choosers 😂😂

Plan for tomorrow attach jump leads as I’ve gone in through the top turn key and see if it’s moving or if I can assist it to move if I cannot I’m going to jack put on axel stands then remove heat shields and try that way if not down to my mates unit body off and fit a new turbo and clean and under seal everything while it’s in 2 pieces I will get it beat it’s just how much hair I loose doing it then as said there is handbreak to do very little access on the 2009 it’s not like the earlier models and oils and so on but it won’t beat me 😂😂
