United States 2008 LR3 4.4 V8 HSE Auto Buckingham BlueLR3

we are back the land of Rovers after a breif affair with Ford Broncos, she with a Disco Sport and I with a LR3 that I bought, needing a good bit of work, for $500 US. Anything you can drive home for five benjies is a darn good deal!
The Disco Sport was a used one, a 2019 with 57K miles and as it turned out a transmission on the way out. Land Rover Central looked at telemtry from the beastlet, declared it needed a new tranny, and is sending one to the dealer...in the meantime she was issued a Disco 5 as a loaner until the new box is installed. My initial long range plan was to run the LR3 for a while, and when finances permitted upgrade to the best LR4 I could find. Well, after my exposure to the D5 that plan has changed, to skipping the 4 and into a 5.
We did not expect to like it as much as we do. It's everything we liked about Rovers to begin with and more. What I didn't expect was to like it more than the Defender.
Here in the US, older D5's are as low as $18K US, which is about what you might pay for a really good LR4. Yeah, I am looking. Totally undertand the OP's point on this one!
