How do I identify which CV joint is bad? |
|
Afternoon all!
My D3 TDV6 has recently developed a clicking noise which is most noticeable when reversing with left hand down on full lock. So, pretty clear it's one of the CV joints on the driveshaft. Prop and all wheel bearings replaced within last 18 months so doubt it's them.
I don't have a jack so I can't get a wheel off the ground (Yes, I know, I should buy one) but I do have ramps I could use to get underneath.
I'm just wondering whether there's any way to identify which side the issue might be giving that it's only occurring when reversing with left hand side down.
Thanks in advance as always!

Just drive round in a circle on full lock, trying both left and right full lock, if it screams on right hand full lock then its the right hand side that needs changing.

It tends to only happen in reverse at the moment though so does your instruction need reversing or would it still stand true?
