Just to say high all I'm Steve part retired (60) and now fiddling with D3s and just bought a D4 with a broken crank, so you can see i am a glutton for punishment but having fun in the shed, not an expert but a keen amateur with some mechanical background and have got a lot of information and tips from this site and one of your members particularly G many thanks all. Indeed at the moment working on a 09 tdv6 it was bought as a non runner have stripped it and in the process of rebuilding have used 06 block honed from low mileage 06 complete with its pistons crank from 09 with its rods which seem new all put back together with kings just fitted oil pump and rear seal pictures where I'm up to and old shells and mark on crank now polished and addressed sorry not to good with posting pictures and words could end up anywhere all the best

Same boat. I’ve got mine stripped and need to sort the line boring, bearing choice part. Where are they and what did they charge? Going genuine cranks etc.

Can recommend Ivor Searle Soham Cambridgeshire give them a google, they seem to know the tdv6 to give you an idea crank run out check, journels and polish is about £80, to dip, clean and rebore and hone is about £450ish would also recommend kings all the best with your rebuild doing the same thing

Thank you. I will call them and discuss. Spoke to someone the other day who wanted to charge 4500 to build a bottom end. All I want is a decent machine shop to check alignment and tell me which bearings I need to use.
