Double roof tents on D3 ?

Hello all
Has anyone on here ever seen or set up themselves 2 rooftop tents on the D3 ?
I have two kids ages 3 and 9.
For the moment we have a Gordigear 165 set up on a FR Slimline 1 rack, and it's OK for now really, but after using it this summer with the kids, I figure it will work all right for maybe a year or two before it becomes an isse.
At this point I figure my options are :

- get a single larger tent (there are some that go up to more tant 2m length) ;
- install two different tents on the rack, one for the kids, one for us. I fugure that is best, but I would have to watch the weight, risking to go beyond the 75 kg... ;
- completely change the interior setup of the car to have a sleeping area for the kids inside (but I am not too keen on that, and I figure it only buys us so much time before it's an issue again). Currently we have a FR cub boxes and fridge setup in the boot ;
- rob a bank and get an offroad camping trailer... self explanatory.. Big Cry

Does anyone have the same problem ? Any advice ?

Thank you all, hope you envoyed camping this summer !

The weight will be the issue with two tents, two tents , 2 adults and two kids will take you over the limit of the roof bars.
Unless you get a custom frame made to mount on the roof for your setup, I don't think its feasible option.

Thank you for your reply
I figured the static weight would not be an issue on a roof rack (we're talking 180 kg of human load), but maybe you are right ?

Seen it done, don’t think static weight is too much of an issue. Also have to remember size. You’ll have the tents set up for folding off the side of the car, most standard tents I’ve been looking at are around 1.4m wide, double it up and have a gap between so you can zip the cover back on and you’re probably looking at needing almost a 3m long roof rack. Way too big for the D3. You’ll need to go for the smaller tents.put into perspective, the awning on my car is 2.5m long and see how much it overhangs the front Very Happy

Funny enough just found a D3 for sale that happens to have a double tuff trek tent on it, looks they make them to fit as a single unit?

That would fit the bill great I think
The partition wall and double ladder are a nice touch.
Though the resulting dynamic load exceeds the rating, but that will be the case for any double sleeping arrangement solution.
Thanks for the tip !

I think the partition and the separate ladder will do for the kids and the parents
Would probably trade the roof rack for a set of three roof bars to limit the weight of the whole thing though.
