I see the previous posts about our Flinders Ranges gathering have been locked
So - a new topic...
What's happening? We're planning on arriving on the Friday sometime, from Melbourne via Mildura and Peterborough.
Do we have to book Skytrek - have we? What day is it on?
cheers,

Someone mentioned in an earlier post about crossing the Simpson Desert, either before, or after the gathering.
Is this still happening
Cheers,

We've rented a "cheap-as-chips but faster and easier than a tent" Jayco Eagle off-road camper for the week. We normally just tent, but trying to make it easier this quick trip.
We'll be in Friday evening - and will leave Monday or Tues to head home via Tibooburra.
Skytrek is a 4wd trip based on Willow Springs Station - see http://www.skytrekwillowsprings.com.au/
Someone mentioned they might organise or book for us all?
cheers,

I'd love to stay out for longer and do the SImpson etc, but have to be back in melbourne on Sun 1st June.
And I'll have our 2 youngest, 5 and 7 yr olds with us, and a Scottish friend to whom we'll be showing our great outback for the first time...
Looking forward to it!

I was thinking of doing SkyTrek on the Sat & going to Blinman on the Sunday, but I was going to wait & see what the consensus was & how many would be there.
I will ring Carmel & Brendan, the owners of SkyTrek today or tomorrow and see if they recommend booking. (They have not said as much in the past)
Catweasel, being a local & native to the area , may have some better suggestions for drives in the area. Biggest problem is most of the land in the area is privately owned. ( )
I will be there from Wednesday and I will be coming in from Leigh Creek. Did you think I would leave you crying,
When there's room in my D3 for 7,
Climb in here Joe we'll soon be flying,
I can go just as fast with 7.

RED DISCO wrote:Catweasel, being a local & native to the area , may have some better suggestions for drives in the area. nope, not really. first 4wd and only been on a couple of excursions with the club. most of my travells have been 2wd. having said that, went to Argadells recently and was quite a good time for $30. nothing super serious but a good day out.
a drive through Bunyeroo gorge and brachina gorge might be nice. http://video.google.com.au/videoplay?docid=-2762489120433674769
