Feeling fustrated! Lower tailgate !

Hi all, need to lower the tailgate to swap a brake light and a slightly different issue to the usual. I have opened by lifting the manual release cams each side in the past (it is lift isn't it?) and can feel them move very very slightly each side without any joy.The button is not jammed and seems fine, 12v to it (will try a separate feed as per an old post), shorting pins instead of the button fails to work and seems to be earth continuity. I think it is odd neither side release manually and have tried pushing the tailgate tighter shut to relieve tension. Any ideas on the failure of the manual unlocking?
Thanks Gareth

Is there a reason that the top of the tailgate does not open

Hi, a little update.. the lower tailgate button has worked twice after clocking up a few miles possibly suggesting an ampage issue as suggested in an older post. Battery voltage seems fine. Have not tried the manual release again yet. (Top tailgate is fine).

I presume you have read the many posts about tailgate issues and resolution on these? Trying to work out why yours is different to those.

Hi, have read through a number of posts and based on one thread will run a different feed to try that. Just been out to the car and what puzzles me is the lack of success with the manual release. Just lifted the passenger side catch, swapped sides, couldn't move the drivers side and heard the passenger side one click back down. Couldn't lift it afterwards.
