Occasional instrument cluster + radio + infotainment failure

On a discovery 3 2008 the instrument cluster (clock, fuel gauge, etc) as well as the screens of the radio and info screen (navigation etc) just go dark from time to time, they will show nothing and the needles of the speedometer and so on will drop.

Except for the instrument cluster and screens, all the electronics seem to work just fine.

What would be the cause of this and how would one solve it?

I've read it might be either a broken instrument cluster (like some solder joints not working) or it might be due to corrosion from water leakage from a blocked sunroof drain or the a-pillar or the windshield cowl.

Could there be any other reasons except from the ones I listed?

If you had a similar problem, how did you fix it?

Thanks,
Luca

I had those issues, i fixed it by sending the cluster off to a specialist to fix it as I think k was the solder degrading. £200 and a month or so later I've not had any further issues
