I like the look of the boat. Have been toying with the idea of getting one. Is this a good starter boat? I have no idea where to start, i.e. insurance, qualifications required etc. I'd ideally like to be able to accommodate 6 people. Would this boat suit for those purposes?

It's a great safe boat and easy for a starter to learn to control and launch but not big enough for 6 people, a maximum really of 4 adults plus a child to be comfortable. It is a very stable boat though with a lot of protection from spray etc. Unless you go for a RIB where you get a lot of load capacity for the size and weight, you would need a much bigger boat and bigger engine for 6 people if it is for the sea. This makes it a little harder to handle and in particular to launch and recover if you don't have much experience.

In terms of qualifications, legally you don't need any, but unless you are sticking to rivers etc where you can't get lost or go to far from dry land, it's not such a good idea to head out to sea without any experience at all. You can get a basic qualification for coastal waters in a matter of a few days and this would make it safe enough to go out and get some experience. Having been in charge of rescue boats in the past, I would never recommend going out to sea without this basic training or without a friend with some experience, especially if you have 5 passengers. It's very easy once you know the basics.

From memory the insurance is about £100, so not expensive and fuel consumption is about 3 litres an hour.

Your welcome to come and have a try if it is of interest.

SWMBO has said I have too many toys which I don't use enough, so it has to go. Sad

But it means I get to spend more on the toys I have, so I see a few D3 upgrades coming, TorqTune first and then maybe some MTR's.

For 50%, could nearly buy the site. Twisted Evil
It will take a while to sell with the current diesel prices. Shocked So I expect to have it for a few months yet.
