Can't hear phone through speakers

Mum came home today complaining that she couldn't hear anything off the speakers when in a call. I came out and tried all the obvious things, making sure the phone set up correctly, turning the volume dial whilst in a call but nothing worked! Connected my phone and it was the same! Anyone got a solution or do we have to go to the stealers?

Cheers
