Steering wheel leather

Did I see somewhere that there has been a problem with the leather on steering wheels? Mine has a rough area appeared at the "ten past two" position. It is about 8-10cm long and is rough or a bit ripply to touch. The rest of the wheel is fine and the leather is not lifting anywhere.

There have been several posts on this "sticky Steering wheel" problem. Most have had the wheel replaced under warranty. I noticed mine having that problem after it came back from it's scheduled service. I will bring it to the dealers attention on the next service.

Thanks men, I'll add it to a little list for the stealer when we next visit. This won't be for a little while, but I'll keep all posted when it happens.

Ditto here as well.

Replaced under warranty. It did take a second ask to get it replaced though.

I had mine replaced and the dealer said to keep an eye on the airbag cover on the wheel as well and also the cover of the box between the front seats.

My replacement has been ordered, plus new steering ball joints. The wheel is definetly a known problem to L/R. I thought I may have had a mini fight to get mine changed, but was wrong.

The leather in the middle of my steering wheel (airbag/horn area) is peeling backwards from the top. I mentioned it to the dealer to have it replaced.

Was told that it is a known fault, but would not be replaced until a permanant fix has been manufactured. Apparently a lot of steering wheels have been replaced and then the fault happens again a short time later.

If you have had it replaced keep your eye on it because it may happen again !!

Had my steering wheel air bag module replaced about a year ago because it was peeling back from the top. New one was fine until I noticed yesterday that it appears to be doing the same thing again. My warranty runs out in Nov, so hopefully get it changed before then, but what do we do after that? Big Cry

Make sure it is noted as an un resolved fault so they will replace when there is a permanant fix?

My wheel has started to get sticky, ten past two again. Dealer will order a new one. Thumbs Up

Caver, Thats exactly where mine is crook as well. I have been waiting two months for parts for warranty issues - something hasn't turned up (supposed to be on back order). There are steering joints, steering wheel and water bottle issues.

hmmm - after only 18 months, I've also got a rough patch appearing at around 11 oclock...

Glad to hear that it's a recognised problem - so will be looking for warranty replacement at next service too...
